Wheels/tire suggestion 1972 GMC K2500 4X4
1972 GMC K2500 4x4 stock suspension. This is going to be a daily driver, no lift planned for now...currently has some old funky 16" wheels, w 255/85/16 tires (approx 32" tall) Looking at American racing baja style wheel or similar...32 to 33" ish...keep it simple. Suggestions or ideas on where/what I can use...pix, contacts, where to buy?

Re: Wheels/tire suggestion 1972 GMC K2500 4X4
The Americans are OK and I have several sets on a jeep and my kids Jimmy project, but for a narrower tire, I am all about the Alcoa's. They are not jeep, but they are a lifetime wheel IMO. I just put my 22 year old set on an '83 crew cab truck. Polished them up and they looked brand new. Worth the $ IMO. I run 265 75 16 on the 2x4 truck and that or the 255 85 16 you have.

Re: Wheels/tire suggestion 1972 GMC K2500 4X4
Welcome to the site! Just so you know, you can drop the "4x4" when describing your truck. The "K" in K2500 already tells us it is a 4wd.
255/85s are the coolest size for your configuration, but not always the easiest size to grab a hold of or get much variety in. Standard would be 235/85 and a bit cheaper. I've never gotten into the other profiles like 70 series. To stay in the 32-33" dia range you might want to look into 285/75s. They can work on a stock width rim, are ideal with 7"-8" wheels. They will fit without lift, look beefy, and if you lift up to 4" one day they will still look right at home.

This thread may help you. I'm always a fan of the classics aluminum slots or turbine wheels.
Happy hunting. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...698377&page=13

Re: Wheels/tire suggestion 1972 GMC K2500 4X4
The best place to buy wheels has always been Summit Racing for me. Given that thay carry what I am wanting. I have bought two sets of wheels from them and have been pleased.
I typically go to the manufacturer's site...find exactly what I want and then do a Summit search for the manufacturer's part number. From there I do a web search for others who sell the wheels and find that Summit's prices are the best considering shipping and all.

Another question... Wheel size/lug pattern...re 8 on 170mm, 180mm etc. Seeing a lot online off newer chevys and fords that may fit?

Ford econoline 16x7 steel wheels, 255/85-16 tires.
My lift is less than 4” and more than 3”, tires would prob fit stock height. |

I would add, the Econoline 16x7, look spot on in appearance to the original 16.5's.

Re: Wheels/tire suggestion 1972 GMC K2500 4X4
Although people have fallen into the habit of calling the 16 x 7 Accurides "Econoline wheels", that is only part of the story. The same wheel was used on 2wd and 4wd F250s and F350s as well. If you do look at wheels off of an Econoline make sure they have nubs for hubcaps. The later ones have no provision for hubcap mounting. The vans either got nothing or the plastic crap wheelcovers. The main thing is look for the Accuride logo to assure they are 8 on 6.5" and not the goofy metric junk

Re: Wheels/tire suggestion 1972 GMC K2500 4X4
not to fuel an argument, but out several hundred of both 2000-2010 F250-350 SRW and E250-350 our company owns, the factory E wheels are 4 nub accurides with metal dog dish caps and the F wheels are slotted with no provision for caps.. I see several of both every single day.. this is also how most vendors catalog these wheels.. there some F series listed for the nub wheels however predominantly E series applications..

Re: Wheels/tire suggestion 1972 GMC K2500 4X4
good tip, they're nearly identical to the Accurides, much closer than the Road Ready brand..

Re: Wheels/tire suggestion 1972 GMC K2500 4X4
Agreed and they are not an exact cosmetic match for the accuride wheel in form, just fitment. My spare is a new dorman, the radius of the outer bends are slightly different
