Dilemma's for my 65
I rebuilt the engine in my green Truck and my dilemma is should I sand the engine compartment and repaint the black or just leave it the way it is? I already repainted the heater Box. My plan was to make the engine compartment and the interior nice and leave the patina on the outside. I might opt out just because I need my truck back.

I like my stuff painted up nice, but I get that sometimes time is of the essence. For sure I would scrub it down with soap and water and hit it with a pressure washer though if nothing else..

Way easier to do it now. Scuff it down or get pieces blasted. I have a hard time putting new engines in old ratty engine bays

I am doing like you said...nice interior, nice engine bay and patina outside of the truck. I am almost done with my truck...so here are some before and after pics of the engine bay if it helps you make a decision. Like was said...much easier to clean and paint now than after everything is back on the truck.
Everything in the engine bay was done with rattle can paint also...even the green paint. Before with the old engine. After: Last edited by roll_the_dice; 08-23-2020 at 03:56 PM. |

When I had my front end off to replace the rusted out core support, I went ahead and pulled the inner fenders to clean up and paint. I used a variety of wire wheels to knock down any scaly spots and clean it up somewhat. I didn't take the entire fenders down to bare metal because I used some Rustoleum rust reformer paint. I think it turned out great for my truck and looks a whole lot better than before

You guys are going to make me do more work.
  I should just stick with my original plan since I have already painted the frame and cross member.
