Monte Carlo chassis swap?
I found a 56 delivery truck which Im thinking about taking a look at. I talked to the owner, among other things he mentioned the truck was using a Monte Carlo frame? I never heard of doing this kinda of swap. Should I be afraid? Its a 2 hour drive, so I wanted opinions before I waste my time and gas.
Thanks! |

monte's had nice frames, but alot of "frame swaps" turn out to be "wet dreams" half completed and halfassed !! you tend to end up with a mojor project trying to align everything and making things work . pay special attention to the detail that bodymounts ,rad support and front clip was attached and are the wheels in the center of the wheelwells i'd much rather have a stock frame

Thanks guys. I dont mind picking a project, just dont wanna have to deal with others disasters. The more I think about it, the worse it seems. But the idea of a 56 delivery had my hopes up.

I've got a buddy who just completed a fram swap on his 55 International pickup. He put a mid 70's caprice frame under it. He's now got 4 link rear suspension (factory), power disc brakes, power steering, 5 lug wheels. Its a win/win situation for him. Bill |

My biggest problem is I dont exactly know what to look for. I can check that the body is on the frame, but with no engine I wont know if eveything is set up right for teh mounts, both engine and trans. Also I wouldnt know about the rad supports. And besides I found better truck in else where, Just need to sell my damn other car.
