Spray Paint for 66 Dash
Has anyone found a decent match in spray paint for the 66 dash? I need to paint my ididit column and I’d like something close. I’ve searched around and most of what I have found is either for the lighter color or not available in spray paint.

Re: Spray Paint for 66 Dash
I had to paint some dash parts on my 63 Impala took my glove box lid to NAPA and he matched the color spot on . The spray bomb was $28 a can but well worth it and flowed great .

Re: Spray Paint for 66 Dash
The closest I've come to original is Krylon K05125307 ColorMaster Paint Metallic, Satin, Champagne Nouveau for the main dash color (not for the bumpy darker brown non-glare).
Here's an earlier post that has links to the paint codes for the various interior colors that might be helpful - the stovebolt thread is a good reference http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...54&postcount=5 Last edited by jocko; 02-14-2021 at 09:53 PM. |

Re: Spray Paint for 66 Dash
Jocko, I believe the poster is referring to the '66 only flat non glare brownish gold color dash.

Re: Spray Paint for 66 Dash
If the 66-only darker fawn 0 gloss on the top of the dash is what is needed, I think that was buried in the stovebolt link within my first link above.
Dark Fawn: 0% Gloss DuPont: #9202-L Ditzler: #DIA 22568 But I kinda thought the op was asking about the steering column - which I thought would match the regular fawn dash metal (60%-ish gloss I think - i.e. the one that looks a lot like the krylon color above)? |

Re: Spray Paint for 66 Dash
Maybe this pic will help. I believe the krylon linked above is a decent match for the non-dash interior metal panels and the steering column/wheel. The flat darker fawn is the correct color for the whole dash (not just the "top" of the dash as I mis-stated in post #5). Sorry if that caused any confusion, I've apparently been spending too much time in 67-72 land, forgot what may own old 66's dash used to look like. I sure miss it.... Anyway, hope that helps.

Re: Spray Paint for 66 Dash
Nissan sunlit sand in a Dupli-color rattle can is a pretty close match

Re: Spray Paint for 66 Dash
TCP Global (google it ) has the Exact color and can put it in a can for you. Dont use the Nissan color , its too gold. I recently used the Fawn on an interior from TCP and its an exact match, used spray can on one and a complete interior repaint on another out of a gun. I have not tried the Dark Fawn yet but Yelmer here on the site has with great success

Hello valued customer. Thank you for the inquiry, the paint is going over metal or vinyl/plastic parts? If the paint is going over metal the smallest amount we mix are quarts, if going over vinyl/plastic the smallest we mix are pints. Re: Spray Paint for 66 Dash
I'm sure that's the difference. Thanks for the heads up. Do you happen to know what codes you used, and was it for the lighter interior parts, or the darker 66 dash?

Re: Spray Paint for 66 Dash
this was painted in 2003 i have notice over the years the Dash paint has Darken a little with Time the door picture was painted in 2017 same supplier and color for both The paint is a Lacquer type . I also have a 67 nova that uses the same paint code for the light fawn . I have seen varying tint colors on the paints from different assembly plants ? or the paint of the day of assembly but after 50 plus years I am sure the paints change due to age? Jon Can answer that the best with his collection.

Champagne Nouveau Krylon ColorMaster Brushed Metallic Spray Paint & Primer for the steering column, doors, floor, cab roof, etc..
And: Caramel Latte Krylon ColorMaster Brushed Metallic Spray Paint & Primer for the dash. Both spray paints are found at Hobby Lobby.

Re: Spray Paint for 66 Dash
Anybody come up with a modern paint code for the 66 dark fawn dash paint beside TCP globals dark fawn poly ?? Ive tried two different paint blends from my local paint shop mixed up and its still way off in color.
One guy on here posted a toyota code but then mixed it with 45 parts metallic and flattener etc but my paint shop has no idea what he means by 45 parts of the metallic |

Re: Spray Paint for 66 Dash
The old codes do not work at least not up in Canada for the dark fawn poly. TCP global wants $200 plus shipping for a quart of dark fawn poly I dont really want to pay this as it will cost me $300 by time i get it here. I only really need a half a pint .. Does anyone have a recipe or a modern code for the dark 66 dash dark fawn poly ? Thx
