Want to do 62 Front Discs, six lug, stock height, stock torsions...questions.

Hello all,

I have hit the FAQ's regarding disc brake swaps and as you all may imagine, the lion share of info doesn't cover 62's....at least while retaining the stock front end anyway.

I see a couple of companies offering stock height, 6 lug discs, some with a booster/master assembly, some without.

I definitely want to keep my torsion bars and retain my stock height, so no spindle drop...and at this time I'd like to stick with my 6 lug slotted mag wheels.

I may, at a later time, want to swap to 5 lug so I can run Torque Thrust wheels, but I know that'll involve swapping rear ends or axle mods for the rear at a minimum.

Is there a preference of kits out there to get this job done, or any kits to avoid?

Any of these kits with the option to later just swap from 6 lug to 5 lug while retaining the kit spindles?

I have a T-5 manual trans already installed too, so I'm relatively certain I'll need a Captain Fab adapter bracket for the master cylinder(s) as well?

Any advice and or links welcome....thanks in advance!

CPP sells stock height spindles and 6 lug disk for the 60-62.
I believe POL dose as well. If memory serves me there are no direct fit 5 lug axles for the 60-62. I installed a rear end out of a 67 c10 (3.73 gears) again because of the 60-62 frame requires modifying the axle perches.
I kept my torsion bar set up and went with a drop spindle and power brake set up before Cpt.Fab made his adapters.

So I wonder if the front discs will fit inside my 6 bolt US slotted mags?

I see they state they wont fit drum size wheels, not sure how much larger my US mags are on the inside than stock wheels were (I never had stock wheels to compare to)?

Be nice to see some measurements to see exactly what is required for back spacing, etc...

Do you know what year your wheels were made? If made after 1970, there's a good chance they will work with discs

I'm not certain what year they are...they look more modern than 70, yes?

It's possible that a date code is stamped somewhere on the back side or maybe there's a sticker inside the wheel. You would have to pull the tire off to see inside the wheel though.

Those look like '70s wheels, so probably will fit. The spare you have in your bed, how's the shape of the barrel on the back side? Pretty flat or somewhat of a cone shape to it?

I went the exact same route with my '60 except I was able to find a factory '65 3.08 rear end.
