5 to 6 lug wheels
Getting ready for the 5 lug conv. on the 63 ,I am debating on keeping the 6 lug and getting new rotors or going to 5 lug and then changing the rear axles or drilling them for 5. If I go to 5 lug then I need different wheels or keep my stock 6 lug wheels and buy the rotors. My ? is will my 6 lug steelies fit the 85 C-10 disc setup that I'm using for the conv.

Re: 5 to 6 lug wheels
If your wheels only have 3 nubs to hold on the hubcaps they won't clear the caliper. Later-model 6 lug steelies will fit over disc brakes - they should have four "nubs." I have a pair of them (15x6) on the front of my truck and I'm using the CPP 6-lug rotors.

Re: 5 to 6 lug wheels
GM never made stock 6 lug 2wd rotors. You'll need to pick up a set of aftermarket 6 lug rotors or have 5 lug rotors re-drilled to 6.
Are your spindles the 1 1/4" or the 1" spindles? That could determine your next choice of action. Another easy way to tell the difference of the wheels is on the back side of the barrel. If it has somewhat of a cone shape to it, drum brake wheel. If it's flat most of the way from center to lip, it's disc

Re: 5 to 6 lug wheels
Rotors are 1 1/4",I was thinking there was a 3/4 ton 2wd that was 6 lug but there I go again thinking. I would rather not re-drill anything so ay just grab some rotors

Re: 5 to 6 lug wheels
My '93 2500 2wd has 6 lug 1 1/4 rotors. Well, had. I put on 5 lug rotors from a 1500.

Re: 5 to 6 lug wheels
They are stock spindles. My 2500 is a light duty so it has the same spindles as the 1500. Same calipers and brakes too. I only had to change rotors.

Re: 5 to 6 lug wheels
The 93 stuff is different from any of the 73-87 stuff though

The 88-98 Lt Duty trucks that were 6-lug used different spindles, calipers, & rotors w/slightly different spacing/dimensions vs. the more common 71-87 spindles used when doing disc brake updates on drum brake trucks. Aftermarket 6-lug rotors for the correct spindles you plan to use (for disc brakes) are the easiest/best way to go.

Re: 5 to 6 lug wheels
This comment was in reference only to 71-87 rotors. Sorry for the confusion it might have brought

But since they're not easily adaptable to common aftermarket disc brake swap spindles I felt it was worth mentioning the difference for those that weren't aware.
