Parking handbrake lever for cable type emergency brakes

Not sure if there is a better source for this handbrake lever - seems like a pretty good deal.

Also, not sure how this thing mounts under the steering wheel; since my truck had the propeller shaft brake.

Can anyone show some pics of their setup? I believe it is mounted beneath the steering column?

I'm curious, how did the driveline brake engage? Didn't it have a pull lever? It's not an option that I'm familiar with. Back in the day I remember seeing it occasionally on Dodges, but don't remember how they were engaged.

It mounted to the drum, at the transmission. With the T5 in, there’s no place to mount it.
I saw some pics of a hand brake lever mounted to the bottom of the steering column. Just don’t know how it mounts.

I believe all you need is the handle and the lower steering column bracket. I can take a picture of my 63 later tonight when I get home

And. the cables, and the rear backing plates, and all the parking brake hardware (although I remember he was talking about a rear end swap).

Yes, I already swapped the rear end with a GM 14 bolt; I believe it is from a 1983 Silverado. I did new brake shoes and drums, all the hardware too. So, it should be ready to accept the cables.

Right. So the parts/to do will be something like:
- brake handle
- front cable
- 66-up park brake conversion
- square body rear cables that match your wheelbase

That one you linked at AMD looks the same as my stock 65. It's Should be plenty of used ones around. It's part of the lower column clamp. A lot of 63-66 people upgrade to the 67-72 C10 style of cable.

Your challenge is going to be hooking everything up to the 83 rear end. Have you checked out those aftermarket electric activated ones? Not sure of price but might be the easiest to install.

Lokar also has handles you can custom mount on the floor, maybe to the left of your seat? Years ago I did that with a handle I scrounged from the wreckers but I can't remember the donor.
