What would be the going price for a NOS fleetside tailgate 77-78 still in the GM box?

Part number 467206

I've been looking but have not been able to find one. There are repo tailgates.

I paid $500 for a mint condition used one. It was the right color so it was easier than buying an NOS one. I would think an NOS would be around that much.

They are becoming unicorns. I used to see NOS 81-87's fairly often, or at least new take-offs that had been sitting in a basement since then. Can't find them anywhere anymore. So the older ones must be even tougher. I bought this tail gate yesterday, it's actually in even better shape than it looks in the pics. What looks like rust is just dirt/paint wear from storage. Handle does need to be replaced. I paid $300 and feel like I stole it.

The last 73-80 NOS gate I saw on this site had an asking price of $700.

My buddy has one and has asked the same question as he now wants to sell it.
