Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
Grabbed this 4 wire switch off a mid 80's Dodge Ram.
Googled and found a wiring diagram. Am I reading the diagram correctly, that this is an "Open Switch" ? |

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
I can't tell from that schematic? Would be best to test it with a multimeter to be sure.

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
Not exactly sure how to test my switch?
Did PIN out testing last night. I assume B should not have voltage until SET is pushed? and then it should just momentary voltage? Last edited by CHIEFWAHO; 05-18-2021 at 10:31 AM. |

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
Get a test light, and a battery and hook the positive side of the battery to the black wire on the switch. Then with the test light, hook one end to the ground of the battery. After that, you can check the other three wires. Start at the yellow wire, you should have 12v when the on/off switch is set to ON. Then check the white wire and press the SET button, you should have 12v only when the button is pressed. Lastly, check the dark blue wire, press the RESUME, you should have 12v only when it's pressed also. That's what it looks like from the schematic anyway, so that's what I would do.

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
Thanks for the help all! I finally have full functioning cruise control.
My wiring I did was spot on. Culprit's were bad switches I had sourced from used vehicles. I ended up ordering a new cruise stalk thru Amazon. I'm not real fond of the look but maybe I'll find a more retro stalk and swap out the inner switch sometime down the road. I cut the 1 screw flat piece off my original turn signal lever and welded it to the new stalk. |

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
Happy you got it working even if it is on a Jeep. Here is a good option for a new cruise control/turn signal lever:

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
Ok, I was going to finish up get my cruise hooked up yesterday and I had a brain blockage...
For the wire that goes from C2 Pin 50 (VSS Out) of the PCM to the K terminal of the cruise module connector, can that be spliced so that it also feeds my electronic speedo? Also, the Purple TCC Brake Switch wire from C1 Pin 33, can it be spiced so that it get is power from the brake switch at the same time as the wire to terminal D on the cruise module connector? I know it should work that way, I just needed to ask so that someone can confirm it. Thanks,

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
I have been working on hooking this up in my LS swapped '84 C10. I took the liberty and the time to clean up the wiring diagrams in this thread posted by ls1nova71 and XwalkerX. See attached. I will be updating them to include wiring for a "Cruise Engaged" light.
I also printed the Cruise Control Module Connector Pin Out. The charts wire color was different than the wires in my actual connector so I noted those in RED text. I added a column for the wire colors I used to extend the wires on my actual connector. I hope this helps someone on here. The original hand drawn diagrams where great, I just made them a bit neater and added some notes that helped me.

Here are the updated diagrams with the Cruise Engaged indicator light wired the way ls1nova71 describes in post #163.

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
FWIW, I used the Rostra switch with circuit reversing relays and my cruise did not work. So, I started tracing circuits to see where I went wrong. In the end, it turned out to be a mis adjusted brake light switch that caused the normally closed portion (that the cruise power circuit connects to) to be normally open. Readjust the switch and bingo. Love it!

I used ackattack directions for relay setup. I first used cheap male and female insulated connectors on every wire to begin with, a volt meter, and tested everything. Worked pretty good. Then I cut off all those connectors and finalized the wiring connections. Connectors allowed me to drive down the road and test after I got them right with volt meter. Twisting them together they could have touched. Whatever you prefer, but it's easy to test this way.

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
I followed post #1 about a year ago to create a harness for a LS cruise control in my 72. I didn't want to replace the brake switch for a LS style one so I came up with a solution to use a relay and 10k ohm resistor to emulate the behavior and make the cruise module think I was using the correct gear. The brake relay is normally open sending power to the clutch input and also provides the brake a source to ground via the 10k resistor. When the brake pedal is pushed it kills the clutch signal and sends 12v to the brake input. Viola!
Jump forward to now I finally got myself a Rostra cruise control switch and when I was probing the function I realized that the set button is normally closed which does not work for the LS cruise.. doh! Another relay to the rescue to just swap the way in which the signal works. There is probably a better way to do it, but this works just fine for me in practical application. The 'set' relay is energized when the cruise is switched on and clicks off briefly when you hit set. Since I had to relook at this I cleaned up my schematic and I'll post that here in case in helps anyone. It's a little odd, but it works for me. The diagram shows 12v coming from the battery directly for simplicity, you would want to use a switched source as I have done. https://photos.app.goo.gl/UeRdo12Smss4MAFf7 |

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
Reviving an old thread to help a buddy. 2002 6.0L cable drive, 4L60E, factory cruise control module (pins A-K). He has a Dakota Digital HND-2 box to control it. Does anyone have a schematic for that configuration? I've found several for that configuration with a DBW, but no cable drive. Thanks!

Re: LS factory cruise control hook up
Just about ready to start wiring the CC module for my '67 LS1 swap.
My cruise stalk/switch (from some year of a factory vehicle?) has red, green, yellow, and blue wires. So far I haven't found that combination in any diagrams. Anyone have any info for it as far as which color wires are for which function or how to determine?
