Re: power steering advise
Here are a couple of pics of my early El Camino bracket now residing on my '66.
Those 2 bolts going into the block need to be the right length because if they are a tad long and you go a bit too tight they will punch thru the water jacket on the block. It happens easier than you might think too. Just a little "pop" and coolant runs out of the hole. (I know this with absolute certainty) sooooo, make a feeler guage out of something and check the depth of the holes then find some bolts to fit. Edit: and yes you need a double groove crank pulley. Just get a triple if you plan on adding A/C later on. |

Re: power steering advise
See how the p/s goes out front on the crank, a/c in the middle and alternator to the rear

Re: power steering advise
I had to resort to Ebay for that. I didn't really want an aluminum one, but it's all that I could find. It seems as though the stock multigroove crank pulleys for a 283 were often weird looking.....like a single groove with a heavy cast iron bolt on addition added to it .... The steel water pump pulley was no problem. Those are still made in a few different brands including GM.

Re: power steering advise
You do not need a "Triple" pulley unless you are wanting to add air conditioning
. The PS pulley fits over the top of your existing single groove crank pulley. However , its advised to use an era correct bracket and pump set to match the pulley. Several different offsets in pump and crank pulleys. Heres an example of the crank PS driver pulley.https://www.ebay.com/itm/30312008093...MAAOSwsB9WBJmU

Re: power steering advise
I was at a car show last years and saw a truck with electric P/S. Mounts on the bast of the column and is total electic. If I ever build a truck for rodding - this is the way I'm going.

Re: power steering advise
Thats a correct "style" pump but everything else is aftermarket . I dont see either pulley with the kit. Might be easier to ask the supplier which pulleys are needed .Or you could also pull everything from a 1965-1968 short water pump Impala and have pump brackets and pulleys

Re: power steering advise
Hello
I am going to do a conversion on my truck. I have a 1969 Chevy c10 power steering box. What kind of power steering hoses thatI can buy without cutting up my inner fender panel. |

Re: power steering advise
The hoses curl and bend, no need to modify your inner fender. The one with the hose going throw the inner fender is not my truck

Re: power steering advise
I happen to have a triple pulley, in case I decide to lower my mileage even further with my V-6
