Space behind speaker grill
What have you guys put behind the speaker grill so that you can't see through the grill to the back of the dash? I thought about cutting a thin sheet of ABS plastic to fit there but thought maybe there is something out there commercially available specifically for that?

Re: Space behind speaker grill
I didnt want to cover the vent slats. i fabbed up a bracket to mount my stereo and garage door opener. used a piano hinge to open it and 2 magnets to hold it closed. the open vents allow me to use the remote.

Re: Space behind speaker grill
Can't say it any better than that. A small remnant of black cloth will get the job done. Get permission to raid the craft room though. Since there is no craft room at my house I'll either have to be at the mercy of my cousin or head to the fabric store where I still may be at her mercy as she runs the fabric department.

Re: Space behind speaker grill
after welding some sheet metal to hold my front speakers, I used some black wire mesh from a dollar store trash can.

Re: Space behind speaker grill
i had a pack of scotchbrite green pads that I was using to clean the stainless, I just spritzed black paint on two and glued them to the back.

Re: Space behind speaker grill
Lots of simple low or no cost solution as folks show. Maybe just use the inside of that Black T shirt that now has too many weld burn holes in the front To give the shirt a life beyond the grease rag death.

Re: Space behind speaker grill
I had some of the cheap carpeting (more like felt) from the auto parts store laying around & just glued a piece of that to it.

Re: Space behind speaker grill
Geez, guess I got lucky. My truck came with what might be the original metal plate with peg board style holes. I painted it with the ruststop black....looks about new.

Re: Space behind speaker grill
I made a "glove box" like thing out of that area where the grille dropped open like a glove box and I had my stereo behind it.

Re: Space behind speaker grill
When I get a new shirt I burn a couple of holes in it and drag it around the shop a little so I don't look like the rookie I am.
