1947-1954 Chevy Truck (need help identifying year model)
Hey y'all! Dude here from Texas.
I recently picked up a 1947-1954 Chevy truck form a junkyard on the original frame, but I need some help identifying the actual year. All I have is a bare cab and frame, so that's what I have to go off of. I THINK it's a '49 but I'm not sure. A few things to note: * Crotch cooler driver side vent * Gas tank behind the seat Any help would be appreciated! |

Welcome. Pictures would most likely help in identifying the year. Can you post some?

Re: 1947-1954 Chevy Truck (need help identifying year model)
There are several sources on the net to check for the details that tell the difference.
This being one of the better ones. https://www.stovebolt.com/techtips/i...otting%20Guide One quick thing is the side vent handle. 49 had a knob while 50 had a flat piece of metal. 49 had lever action shocks while 50 had tube shocks. The early 49 had the door windlace held in with a metal strip with screws holding it while the late 49 used the channel to slip the rubber windlace in like the 50/54 do. This is an early 49 firwall that has the fuse block up on the corner of the firewall and no stamped reinforcement ribs in it. Another source we use a lot http://devestechnet.com/Home/History If it still has the door post tag 49 door post tag is held on with two clutch head screws. This is one of the simpler serial number aka vin decoders for AD trucks at least for me. http://sanjosechevys.org/Tech/tech_d...chevtrucks.htm You didn't drag that cab and frame out of Crawford?
