Re: grill gaurd

It looks like a Luverne grille guard. They supplied GM with those through the Silver Book

Re: grill gaurd

Thanks to all that replied. Interesting pics , I can't get the picture posting thing to work.
The guard on mine is different from the guards that are on the pics of the 2 trucks. So , 3 different trucks w guards , 3 different guards , none of them are exactly the same , the difference between them is th spacing between the vertical and horizontal slats that are welded in. I have a GMC master parts book and it only lists 5 different bumpers and only 1 set of hooks. I know I have aChevy C 50 , and the hooks have a part # 3895437 on them and they to tall . Does anyone have access to a Chevy truck model C 40 -C 60 master parts book. Would like to know if there are different hook part #s , so that I could look for correct part #s for my truck. Special k, could you look in that book that you have and see if that would have any information about this ? Again , Thanks to all who replied and sent pictures
Will continue to look for a set of hooks to fit my truck.
Good luck on your projects

Lightbulb Re: grill gaurd

The correct number is 3895347 group 7.068, and it shows 1967-72 40-60 series except tilt cabs

Later the number changed to 668590 and 2037943 and was used through 1988 on school bus chassis.

Here is a 2037943 hook:

Thanks so much for the updated part.#s on the towhooks
In the GMC truck master parts book 4500 6500 series , that I have it gives 2 different parts #s for them, 3776012 , rh front ,.3776011 lh front . This info is in section
11.0660. Same section also lists gussets , spacers , and washers.
Will continue to look for set of hooks using the new information about tow hooks for my
truck . Thanks to all who replied ,hope that all of this information will help others.
Good luck to all on your projects!!!

The 3776011/3776012 numbers are for '61-'66 40-60 series except tilt.

Re: grill guard

Hello all, couldn't make the factory tow hooks work with the grill. So I got a set of hooks off of OSB truck. Had to drill extra hole in the hooks to get 2 holes on truck frame to line up. Used some flat washers to shim up hooks in the rear. They are factory hooks , just not what came on my truck from the factory . Works for me .
