GMC Cats Eye Parking Lights
Hi guys
I have a 62 GMC I am restoring back to stock as far as parking light location. It had the bumper removed and roll pan and Camaro parking lights installed. I found the passenger side assembly and notice it was not like other GMC assemblies I’d seen. It has a glass amber “cats eye” in it and I wanted to see what years it was used. My research shows like 62-early 63. I need to find a drivers side to match if anyone knows of one. Thanks |

Re: GMC Cats Eye Parking Lights
Someone added the amber glass insert. 62 GMC's came with a clear front turn
lense. 63-66 GMC's had amber front turn lenses. |

Can you share a picture of the Camaro lights?

I disagree. This light was bought assembled with a white lense that was cracked which I took off by drilling out the brass rivets. Here is the backside and this looks like original rivets to me.

Here you go, they put a roll pan on and I believe a lower plastic spoiler from a 73-87 truck. I thought it made the truck look like it had no teeth so I am putting it back to stock.

Re: GMC Cats Eye Parking Lights
This in Jon from facebook Joe . For the others reading this , GMC put the glass amber insert in the housings as a federal requirement for 1963. SOME 63 GMCs were still using clear lenses so they added these glass inserts to solve the problem possibly in late 62 production. Possibly a dealer repair on this 1962 of Joes ? Or who knows, the truck has obviously been repainted so previous owner, owners, could have swapped them out. Normally you wont find that insert in a 1962 GMC,
