Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

Hooverfish

Just wanted to verify this as my factory 1973 low back seat did not have those extra brackets (blue circled in #9)on rear mount to seat frame on drivers tracks. In picture#9 in blue circle I believe is the later style 75-76 seat brackets and 1973-74 buckets the track was only bolted straight to the seat base. So in picture #14 looks like your seat at the rear also only bolts to the seat frame and those blue circled brackets are not used on yours correct?
Just wanted to check as mine never had any marks that those little angled brackets were ever installed there.
Thanks, Mark

Sorry I couldn't figure out how to repost you're photos from post 9 and 14 here.

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

Hello Mark,
On my seats I used 73-76 bench seat brackets for the Driver side. Had to add two pieces from the Chop-Shop to bolt them in place, circled in blue below.
Also used 4 chop shop brackets on Passenger seat.
Then two C-S brackets that are welded to the floor. Circled in red
Brackets circled in yellow are the two for the Driver seat in pic #1.
And yes, brackets at the rear of the seat bolt directly to the seat.

Hope this answers your question.

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

Perfect information. Just what I wanted to know. On the drivers side I had to repair the two oem brackets you have in yellow and I had cutout the original welded brackets from a couple of cash for clunker suburbans back in the day so I am ready to go on my 73 GMC 4x4 shortbox. Thank you very much. Was going to ask you if you sold those 4 nice GMC chrome 10.5" hubcaps you had on here a while back? Thanks Mark

No the bolt holes did not line up but you could make it work if you wanted.

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

I ordered a 73-74 bucket seat set 1-28-22 from CARID coming direct ship from the manufacturer Distinctive Industries. They said right up front 15-16 weeks. Probably still wont need them even if they show June 1st. lol

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

Hey TKCR, I got my charcoal black 1973 GMC "bucket seat " covers yesterday after ordering them January 29th through CARID. The order came factory direct from Distinctive Industries in California. They did a nice job just that they made it for a "bench seat" instead of low back buckets as ordered correctly from vendor. What a deal. After a long phone call with a non car lady at CARID, I was assured by her supervisor it would be no charge to me as it was ordered correctly with them. But the vendor still needed the new bench seat covers removed from box and pictures of it and also pictures of my original seats and note the problems? Then they will be back to me in 3-5 days with what they can do. lol. I told them I want it exchanged and an expedited set of the correct bucket seat covers sent to me. Wish you were doing my buckets Tina!

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

Larry
Ive been waiting on the headliner from USA1 since January and I contacted them about a month ago just to see if it got lost from that order. They said they would check with the production manager and let me know. Have not heard back since.
But I did get my 73 gmc pu bucket seat covers from Distinctivw Industries just yesterday and they were over the top in quality stiching and materials. Had them ordered through CARID since January 29th and the bench seat style cover came by mistake and they remade a bucket sear set and got it to.me in 4 weeks. Mark

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

I too contacted them 3 months ago, service guy sent me email 2 weeks later, said I would get them in a month. Cant believe anything they say.

Thinking about going to local shop and getting them to reproduce originals.
Then sell the others if they're ever delivered.

Give Donna at Rick's Custom Upholstery a call. They're stitching up a set for me that should be delivered in June. I ordered in March. Donna's been awesome!

I cancelled my order because someone bought the buckets seats. He had covers coming from SMS, but didn’t have buckets yet. So this worked out for both of us.
