turn signal switch
I have a question for all of you turn signal switch and column experts. What was the first year that you could get a four way flasher? I have a column that has a chrome 2 speed shift indicator and a red knob 4-way flasher knob.

That indicator is 67-70 style for a Powerglide. My 68 had a 2-speed indicator like that when I got it, and the red hazard knob said FLASHER on it. I'm guessing your column is a 67-68 style based on the tighter bend in the shift lever, although it is hard to tell in the photo. If it has a one piece steering shaft without a separate intermediate shaft, then that would be another indicator of 67-68, I believe.

It has a two piece shaft and the shift lever is definitely different from a 72.

I could be wrong about this, but I believe 71-72 shift levers are thicker at the column end than 67-68 and 69-70.
The 69-70 lever has the same bends and length as 71-72, so the only difference is the thickness at the column end. The 67-68 lever has the same column end thickness as 69-70, but 67-68 is shorter overall and has tighter bends. |

My column definitely has a thinner shifter lever and it is held in with a roll pin. My 72 column shift lever is held in with straight pin.
