Installing seat belts
I need to install seat belts in my 67 and I have a couple of questions.
1. Are these the right belts? I found them on one of the board vendor pages and I want to make sure that they're right. 67-72 Shoulder Harness Seat Belt 2. Can I install the seat belts myself or should I have someone else install them? I don't think this is something I want to screw up. Thanks for the help, Pete |

Here's a link to the page I found the belts on. They had some other selections but I wasn't sure which one was right.

Hard to say if it the perfect fit or not. I'd just call the dealer and ask him. I bought some from So Cal speedshop. I had to have the buckle strap made shorter at an upholstry shop, (21" long as I recall). Also, I had to drill new holes in the floor to mount the reels. If I didn't have the gas tank behind the seat it would have turned out a little cleaner, but as it is it looks good, works good, and makes me fell a lot safer.
OOops, that is an old shot, it doesn't show the new belts, and the wife has the camera, so you will have to take my word for it that it looks good.

That link is for Classic Heartbeat, Wes owns/operates it. He's a member here, hopefully he'll see this. ttt

O.K. I went out and got a new pic, with the belts actually installed this time. Like I said, if the gas tank was not there, I would have mounted the reels back on the original belt mounting points and the other point where it is now. It is pretty close with the reels between the door and the seat.
Good luck.

Can you tighten bolts real good????..thats all you need to know.
don't worry to much about doing it.....it is really easy to do. if you have a 67 which I think did not have the provisions for lap belts even, then you will have to drill through your floor. Just use grade 8 bolts nuts lock washers (5/8 x 2inch size bolts will do the trick) and big washers to act as support for the hole in the floor. which ou can get at Autozone or oreillys or a hardware store you just need to put the holes in the right places for lap belts. if I get a chance when I'm installing my carpet I will remember to snap a pic and take some measurements of my 68 seat belt holes. As for the pillar holes for the shoulder harness type...I'm not sure how to go about that. I got my lap belts at AZ, and did some fabbing to make them work a little better....if you have seen the ones from AZ, you will know what I'm talking about.

I appreciate the help. I'll order the belts today and I'll probably be posting again if I get stuck.
