New, to me, 72 C10
Got this last week. Truck was in Ill. While I never buy anything without seeing it, I did on this but had a friend of a friend look at the truck.
Running truck, looks in person as nice as the pics were. Seller was very candid about the truck, transaction was simple and trucking got it here to CA in 3 days So after driving it and looking under and all over it has some needs but otherwise in very nice shape. No rust anywhere, just dust and road grime under truck. Its had paint, interior and possibly some engine work done (my guess at least valve job) and runs smooth, quiet, no exhaust smoke and no leaks anywhere. While many things have been replaced there are still original stuff like soft brake lines, 29 year old tires still with nubs on them (full tread) but new fuel tank, pump, carb rebuild, plugs, wires, radiator hoses, etc. All of that kind of stuff for me is easy to do. Every gauge, light, function of the truck works. Anyway glad to have it in my small group of hobby cars and will be asking ?'s as I go through it. |

Re: New, to me, 72 C10
Thanks for the nods gents. Had her for a week now and have been doing "sorting" of little things that to me need fixing or adjusting. The truck apparently was in a collection that sat for about 20 years and was woken up a year or so ago. Paint is really nice and so far she is looking good regarding everything works. Tires, new but 29 years old so will have to replace. Like anything else issues present themselves but that is part of the hobby.
PO was very proud of her and te transaction was very smooth....considering what can happen in out of state sales. Got her all registered here in CA without issue Few more pics |

Re: New, to me, 72 C10
I just finished sorting out the engine bay wiring and hoses (pics above are before that). Wrapped all the wiring harness and used the original clips, etc in the holes to secure it, got new vac hoses and battery cables. It came with a Pertronix in dizzy.
Putting new steering wheel o today Will keep original but its cracked and just to big as I am 6'2" and need some more room. Have PS so no problem with smaller wheel It runs like a clock, temp and OP are great. Has 3:73 gears but does not seem to wind up high at Fwy speeds. Just need to go through and replace soft brake lines, wheel cyl and replace the soft fuel lines under truck. None leaks now but they are very old. Will check trans & diff fluid and give her a oil change, flush radiator and replace the lower hose. IDK why it was not replaces as the other hoses were. Just simple sorting out the truck so I don't get any surprises while driving. In all its a very solid truck. Speedo says 14,999 so I suspect 114, 999 as the under carriage and suspension clearly don't have over 200k mi on them. Absolutely no rust or bondo anywhere. She appears to have had a very easy life |

Re: New, to me, 72 C10
Got my new steering wheel n so now I have room. Don't have to hold my leg sideways to put on brakes now.
Anyone know where to get a shorter column 3OT arm? Only one I found was for tilt column |
