Re: 1969 C20, CST. 396, 21,000 mile documented Survivor
Unfortunately, I don't have one since I bought the mirror in 1974. So, my truck now has the 70/71 style boot.

This cargo light is baffling me. I asked how it energizes a while back and someone said there should be a switch below the dome light. Well there is no switch below the dome light. Now I'm wondering if the original owner didn't just mount it for looks.

Re: 1969 C20, CST. 396, 21,000 mile documented Survivor
Interestingly, I didn't see a switch on my truck either, even though it is a CST and had the cargo lamp. I just went and looked under the boot that goes between the cab and the camper, and there it was.
I forget, does that truck have Z84 Custom Sport Truck on the SPID? I guess one could add that light and switch it through the dome light?

My old eyes can't read that, but I'll trust that your eyes on site can. I have no answer about the switch. Lots of things were done 50+ YA.

I believe the smooth black cover in this post is from a 69 mirror mount.

Re: 1969 C20, CST. 396, 21,000 mile documented Survivor
Dug up this thread on the mirrors way back when. 69 were round I guess. But if not listed on the SPID then no mirrors came on the truck. Which would explain how the 71-72 "sport" mirrors got on this truck without filing holes and body work. Of course that's all true if the outside mirrors were an option and not standard.

So if I'm hearing you guy's correctly the rear view mirror for 69 was an option no matter C10 or C20?

I started detailing yesterday on this truck. The cargo light subject is what I thought, installed for looks. Or installed in hopes of getting it to work. Pick one. The lens is date coded 69 Guide SAE

I pulled all side view mirror screws one at a time. All were oval headed sheet metal screws.

I found this two wire lead running from driver's side and across at top of rear firewall. Odd looking connector. Didn't see anything it plugged into. Anyone?

Plug wires are Belden and are dated 2nd quarter 83. Didn't expect them to be original.
