now that truck has paint on it . what does everyone use for wax ?

check with the paint supplier but any kind of paint will likely need to offgas and cure/harden for a coupe months before wax.
I am using the mothers ceramic wax on my 2015 silverado base clear. it seems to hold up pretty well and is pretty easy to apply. iy is also a quick wipe down with a microfibre cloth after a wash and shines well.there is a prewax cleaner used before the first application so dunno if that is great for fresh paint. before that i used a meguires tech wax liquid. it went on easy as well but didn't last as long. an old fashioned pure carnuba will be awesome but you gotta keep laying it on. I would rather be driving it than waxing personally.

It's hard to not wax right away, I know, but I would say clean it and leave it. Let it gas off. I have had a paint job bubble before, years ago, because I put it on without sufficient time to gas between coats. The clear peeled off like sarann wrap. Personally I would let it do its thing. A lot of work went into it. Maybe check with a paint supply place first, ar least, and see what the pros say. It looks great.

My truck will NEVER EVER get a garden hose and bucket wash much less go through a car wash. I waited waay too many years to build it and paid waay too damn much for the paint job to ever let it get water in all the nooks and crannies.

I wash it periodically with a new, wet microfiber cloth not quite to the point of dripping, then immediately dry with another microfiber cloth. Takes only about 4 wet and 4 dry cloths to wash it all.

Since it is never outside other than when I drive it it never needs polishing. I use Collinite 845. It's pure wax, has no cleaning agents in it at all. My paint looks as good as the day it was painted.

My experience is that if you actually get your truck out and drive it for any distance on road trips you are going to get caught in rain storms no matter how nice it was when you left the house or what the weather report says where you are going.

As far as wax, either you wax the car just because you believe it helps it look that much better or you don't because you hate waxing anything.

I used to use McGurie's competition wax on my rides back 50 years ago and that not only gave a great shine but made the finish so slick that if you tossed a dry towel on the hood it would slide off and someone planting their butt on the fender might slide off on the ground which happened once when a guy thought he could sit on my fender. A buddy of mine explained to him in uncertain terms that you didn't sit on a fender that didn't belong to you.
I used some squirt on liquid wax on my OT daily and it looks good but doesn't last long but is a lot less work than paste wax.

For my expensive paint jobs (like my black Model A below) I use a liquid detail wax. Traditional hard-drying waxes are virtually impossible to get out of every nook and cranny and they leave white dried residue in the recesses that just looks awful. It takes hours to wax with traditional buff-off wax, but just minutes with liquid detail wax, so I literally wax the truck every time I take it out.

PS: Microfiber towels only!
