CPP grand slam kit or piece together?
So I am going to convert the 67 to front discs and dropped spindles, etc and came across the Classis Performance CPP grand slam kit for $1299 (5 lug) or $1399 (6 lug) that has everything for the front end, rear springs and shocks.
Just curious if anyone has used this kit, and how it is. Also trying to figure out if it's cost effective, or cheaper to piece the same stuff together, by quick price cheacking it seems to be a little cheaper, but CPP has some pretty healthy shipping prices. |

No way man.
See how they're including ball joints and tie rod ends in the kit? It's because they are sending you 73-87 spindles and the parts to convert to them. Early Classic makes the right spindles for your truck to not have to change ball joints and tie rod ends to install. Plus, if you drop over 3 or 4 inches in the rear, you'll need to attend to the panhard bar and shock mounts (parts not included in CPP kit), which will cost you even more money. Call Early Classics or visit their website, you'll find great deals, great parts, and great service. I use them on every one of my trucks and they are top notch folks.

another spin...
I used the CPP spindles to drop my 71, the shipping was not bad and I was very satisfied with the products. Yes, it does change the front to the later model spindles, but these lower components were bigger and new. My thinking was larger=sturdier (or why would GM have increased the size) and I also thought newer (rod ends) were better than using my old ones.
Just my 2 cents worth. As for the rest of the kit, I've never bought a complete kit as hunting for separate pieces has always been cheaper for me, but not necessarily easier since at times I had to be REALLY GOSH DARN patient. I've measured the rear of my drop to make sure it is centered and so far so good with the stock panhard bar. Eventually though I may grab one, even though it seems they end up needing some modification, depending on how you drop the rear. ECE gets lots of business for good reason, good products. CPP has provided parts for my 55 F100 and 71 C/10 and they have never let me down.

I bought the CPP front end rebuild kit and the ECE drop kit (shocks, springs, mounts and panhard bar). It's all good.
Good to hear you're going to get started on your truck Patrick. Know anybody that wants to buy mine? Scott

I used the grand slam kit from Classic Performance. It is some of the best quality material I have ever seen.
