Anyone ever put lights in the visors?
I'm redoing the interior on my 87, and the old crusty sun visors are out of the truck. So now is the time to do any upgrades to them, when they're about to be recovered in new vinyl. Only the passenger side has a mirror, but no lights. The driver's side is blank. Anyone know what type of vehicle I should scavenge the new mirrors from? Mirrors with lights on the sides.
I think this could work because there appears to be a hole inside the elbow which attaches the visor to the roof. Maybe a wire could be ran through there. Is this idea good, bad, or ugly? Thanks! |

As far as period to your truck, brands like Cadillac or upscale Buicks and Olds might have compatible visors with mirrors and lights.
I have seen aftermarket mirrors+lights that attach with a pair of stretch bands. With current LED tech, batteries would probably die from age before being drained. |

Yeah there's some. Only thing is, you'd have to screw some new holes in the roof to make the catches work. Unlike the truck visors, those burb ones clip into place when you aren't using them. So I think the only real way to do it for a truck is to add the lighted mirrors to some truck visors. |

I was going to suggest the Suburban visor route too. I’m not sure the exact years, but I believe the 88-91 Suburbans should have them. Seems like it’d be pretty easy to wire too.

Yeah looks like buying and then refurbishing some burb visors is the way to go here. Recover them, and put in LED bulbs
