Looking for input on fixing a cracked steering wheel
Was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for fixing a couple of cracks on my steering wheel. Any help is greatly appreciated

I dug the crack all the way to the bottom with a die grinder and a carbide cutter, then filled it all back with JB Weld Plastic putty. I did a video of it all here.

As I recall, POR sells a kit to do the repair. My thought is that the inner steel rust expands and cracks the plastic outer so regardless it's temporary.

My thought is that the steel and plastic expand and contract at different rates, so cracking is inevitable, especially as the plastic dries out. One of the reasons I chose a plastic putty that remains somewhat flexible. We'll see over time how long it lasts.

I did that JB repair and my truck sits outside all year in the cold/heat and my repair is over 5yrs old and no separation yet.

I used PC7 on a couple of wheels I did last year. I saw it was recommended on a couple of forums. It's a two part epoxy and it is a putty so you can shape it and smooth with your fingers into the cracks after reaming them out a bit. The problem with steering wheels is they are irregular surfaces a lot harder to blend in the repair than a flat surface.
