I am trying to install power windows in my 1965 gmc truck. Where is the best place to drill holes for the wiring harness for the power windows? See my two pics below - is there an advantage of one over the other or other ideas I should consider? Thanks for any insights…. Angie

Here's how I mounted mine. Your first pic might pinch the loom. I cut hole a little lower on the door compared to the pillar structure on the cab, so that the loom ended up more vertical when the door is closed...provides a little more slack in the harness to prevent too much tension on the harness.

Like to bend into a U myself. Think it allows less bunching of the rubber and also Allows extra wire for the movement. If there is room inbetween front of door and mounting pillar when door is closed I prefer to put it there as wire access is easier when door and fender is installed.

You may want to take a look at this photo. I have a junk '64-'66 driver's door that I cut open. There is an additional panel that is a stiffener for the front of the door. You will probably have to cut through that in order to route your wires, although it may be possible to just cut through the front part of the door and then go up and over the top of the inside panel.

Yeah, I seen that. Been contemplating that since we started doing the sheet metal work on the door

The inside of doors on my 72 have a similar reinforcement on the hinge side. Drilling the hole close to the outer skin should avoid going into cavity. Is a good location as well for how I am going to install the boot, as the first pic i posted.
