Wiper question

I'm in the process of re-wiring my 1953 Chevy truck. The new wiring harness has one wire for power to the switch for the wiper motor. The motor itself has three wires in addition to a ground wire to the chassis. The switch has four blades for the wires to connect to (three from the motor and one for power).

So far that seems relatively straightforward. What is confusing to me is that the switch only seems to have one position other than what I assume is "off". Given the three wires from the motor, I assumed it was a two speed motor. If so, shouldn't the switch have two other positions other than off?

Re: Wiper question

What wiper motor kit do you have? Part number ? That helps research.

Does the switch have a provision for windshield washers?

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

I guess I need to stop drinking when working on the truck (just kidding). Turns out the switch does have two positions other than off.....not sure how I screwed that up. But here are photos of the motor and the switch just for grins.

Any idea which wires go where?

Re: Wiper question

switch looks very similar but not identical to one I used
B = Wiper power from fuse block
L = Low speed
H = High speed
P = park (has power when switch is in Off)

Thanks. I had guessed L and H but thought P was for "power" This helps and I'm guessing that my guesses at the 6 possible combinations won't be the first guess. LOL

Well, if the PowerBall lottery odds were 1 in 6, I could have just won the lottery.

Using a 12 volt transformer that I have, I did my best guess at which wires go where and lo and behold, my first guess was correct. For future readers, the correct wiring order for my type of electric wiper motor was as follows:

P = Park = White
L = Low Speed = Yellow
H = High Speed = Green
B = Wiper power from wiring harness
