Hood adjustment advice needed
I've seen a few C10's in pics with the same issue as my hood below. The hood closes nice, doesn't have any damage on it yet the back of the hood near the windshield doesn't sit down properly.
What causes this and is it an easy adjustment or are my hinges worn out? Thanks for any help you can provide!

Yes, hinges are worn out.
Can you push the hood down where it looks right? If yes, hinges. |

Re: Hood adjustment advice needed
Can I push it down on the part that's sticking up or on the very front of the hood?

Re: Hood adjustment advice needed
Open the hood all the way. Loosen 2 of the 3 hood hinge bolts. Now open the hood further, overextending it. You'll see the hood hinges move a little when you do this. While holding the hood in the overextended position, have someone else tighten the hinge bolts. Now test close it and repeat if necessary.

Loosen the two back bolts and just slightly loosen the front bolts. That way the hinges will pivot on the front bolts. After tightening the bolts back up close the hood slowly the first time while checking the adjustment to make sure the hood doesn't hit anywhere. A lot easier to do with 2 people. This does work for your problem.... LockDoc

Re: Hood adjustment advice needed
When I first got my C10, after opening and closing the hood a few times, I noticed the hood starting to do that. The hinges looked really dry so, with the hood open, I lubed them up at each moving joint, (there are several joints per hinge). Once the hinges were lubed, I gently moved the hood up and down a few inches several times to work the lube into the hinges. I then closed the hood and noticed the hood wasn't jacked up in the back anymore. Haven had the problem again in the last 10 years. Worth a shot before you start loosening things.

The hinge restoration dude (Willy?) says deep creep. I'll vouch for it, blasted and Cerakote they're like butter. Ideal but unpractical, you want to work them with the hood off or something like, careful to not tweak your hood. He's not kidding on moving parts, joints and that. I sprayed about 95% of it anyway, makes for a nice polish

Re: Hood adjustment advice needed
Once you get the back of the hood down you may have to the front to back position of the hood. Be careful you don't run the back of the hood into the cowl.

Re: Hood adjustment advice needed
I had the same problem with mine. I found some cheaper hood hinges from CVF racing.. they are $100 cheaper than any of the hinges I've found. AAAAAAAAAND, they are also adjustable! to where you can install the hood by yourself. Its a really awesome design, they have a vid on the website on how they work. Check em out!

Re: Hood adjustment advice needed
Just wanted to update this thread.. My hood hinges were simply misaligned, took a few minutes and some back and forth adjustment and the hood closes perfect now. It actually shuts and open better than ever with no effort and no more binding. Thanks for all the help!

Re: Hood adjustment advice needed
Voila! All my hood needed was the push the hood up while leaving the front bolt snug.

Re: Hood adjustment advice needed
Thanks! The most surprising part for me is how nice the hood opens now as there was binding before. Now once I pop the release, no fighting with the hood to pop up and the hood just glides open with the help of the springs. Super happy! She closes with one finger too
