47-55.1 Rear cab floor to window braces

I know when I got the 54 it had a "felt paper" between these braces and the rear cab panel. In cleaning up the rear of the truck, the paper was all but destroyed, so I removed what was left.

My question is what is being used between the brace and the rear cab panel now? Can we use something like Liquid Nails to secure it?

I dont think youd want it bonded together.. ive been using 30# roofing felt strips..

You don't want that bar bonded to the backpanel in the middle, the insulation (tar paper) is to deaden any vibration that might happen. Any solid insulation material that doesn't absorb water that is about the same thickness will work fine but the 30 lb roofing felt that Mongocanfly mentioned is about as close to the original as you will get. We can usually cabbage onto small piece for free if we don't have part of a roll stashed away anyhow.

edit: having posted above picture, something continues to bother me: I bought the product shown a few years ago off Amazon and am quite happy with it. BUT it is manufactured in a country that has chosen to invade a neighboring nation. If I was shopping for sound deadener today I'd choose another brand.

Leegreen's mat looks nice. I use rolls of self adhesive window sealing tape. It comes in rolls for sealing around windows and doors before you install them. It is also called: window flashing tape, window foam tape, window insulation tape, window seal tape and window wrap tape. It comes in smaller rolls. If you go this route leave the paper on the tape until the last minute.

I left in the remainder of the falling out felt between the braces and shot Lizard Skin heat and sound deadener over it. I hope it doesn't warp the back of the cab later, but you probably won't see with the bed in the way.

Thanks guys, NO bonding. I can get some felt paper and go from there.

I'm wanting real world fedback on how the Lizard skin works as sound deadener or heat insulation.

I was figuring on using it with other insulation material rather than instead of though.

Will let everyone know when she's assembled and driving.
I am getting soft in my old age, and without A/C, it better cut down on the in cab heat.
It does do sound deadening very well. Can tap on parts, and it is a very dull thump. Sprayed the roof, floor, fire wall all the way up and inside the dash, and inside the doors.
A bit pricey, but I like the fact that it can be sprayed into tight areas that are impossible to get dyno-mat into.

Would you consider spraying it under the fenders? Have my front ones off at the moment and while they are rust free, I know they won't stay that way forever without some protection. I have been considering bed liner but wasn't sure of all the pro's and con's.

I have Lizard Skin under the fenders as well as the entire running board and the inside of the cab. They mixed it with the color for the painted areas.

It is on Wife's 48 so you can see the pictures if you go to the thread. I have only 50 or so miles on it, so not a lot to report on how well it works yet.
