Reconditioned seat belts installed . Not sure how but I managed to loose one of the bolts . So one of the latch belts isn’t bolted in it’ll turn hopefully.

Pulling the sender probe and immersing it in a can of just-boiled water -- to see how close to 212F it reads would be the textbook gauge check. But I'm not keen on messing with it. When the Jimmy got a fresh crate engine in 1999, the original Electric Temp gauge wouldn't play.

Working on replacing a leaky 2 piece fuel line from the regulator to the fuel rail with a single PTFE line. First time trying to assemble the PTFE fittings and so far they are no joke. I'll keep at it until they are good to go. DP

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Finally getting off my rump to get my truck functional again. Completed brake line routing, install power booster and master. Installed new radiator. Cleaned up and installed fan/clutch/shroud. Bolted steering column back in. Rebuilt q-jaet carb. Still have a to-do list but progress nonetheless.

It turned out to be worse than that. The right-hand exhaust manifold was broken at the collector so borrowed one from my Land Cruiser.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Way Cool, Pat.
Now I'm interested. Do you think it would work in a topped Blazer/Jimmy? Probably 3 times the interior volume... And would it work against Arizona Summer Heat?

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Very early Edelbrock so yes basically an AFB . Edelbrock bought the rights to them and from what I have heard both came down the same line at Webber
Same exact carb that’s in my Avanti . I must have twenty AFB carbs sitting on a shelf at my moms place Dad would by any he saw . I have a NOS one for an Avanti in the box with all the correct tags

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
I agree, Same/Same.
I put a 350 crate motor in my '71 Jimmy in 1999. I got a Weiand intake and a Carter AFB Performance Series. When I rebuilt a 292 L6 for my '68 C/10 Stepside, the Holley R8007 390 CFM carb was shot -- after only 25 years and 250,000 miles! So I looked for another Carter, but Federal Mogul had lost interest in the Hot Rod Aftermarket, so the only option was an Edelbrock 1404 w/ 500 CFM. Very happy. I prefer the AFB style for ease of maintenance. PS. You need to cap that other vacuum port. [Unless the photo is a work in progress...]

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
I'm not sure. It seems pretty well-sized for a regular cab. I am finding the fan needs to be turned down after running on full blast for about 5 minutes. Is your roof insulated?

If I wanted to get serious, I could drill 1/2'' holes periodically and shoot aerosol foam inside. But if it got carried away, that could irreversably bulge the interior space. And then you'd have to cap all those holes. As is, there's a 1-3/4 to 2'' air gap between inside and outside. Sound deadener and/or a layer of silver mylar-sided bubblewrap inside the doors and bed walls would be covered by the Door Panels and Vinyl Rear Panels. Maybe a rectangle of carpet could be glued on the inside Tailgate.

So the Distributor's in front, but the Carburetor's in the rear?

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Looks like I finally got my rear end leak fixed after using JB-Weld on a plug. What a PITA to have a leak on these plugs! Also changed out my starter and I think (hope) I am golden now.
