Sorry, no idea how to flip picture.
I was curious what you are using for a fan set up. I just installed a vintage air front runner and a new Dewitt alum radiator and it seems the fans are going to be tight

I'd love to shoot you some pix of the 20 and 30 year-old flex fans on my two trucks, but I gotta work tomorrow.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Got the new starter in wasn’t a very pleasant experience. I had to have the mounting block milled down . It was at almost .60 gab without any shims I think the machines milled down .10 ,it brought it to close but one shim brought it to exactly.30 .I also had to remove the Shaft shim to get the depth right too.

The isn’t charged in the picture so it’s slightly retracted when I power the solenoid it goes to proper depth on the Flexplate

I had to also move the new engine forward another inch, just to have a sliver of clearance on the passenger side valve cover.
On the old 402 BB, I was able to run two 16” Syclone electric fans. (Which were 4” deep”)
Now there is no room at all for them, and I had to find the slimmest 14” electric fans that still moved a lot of air. (Especially now with the added AC condenser, and power steering cooler added to the front, in addition to the already installed transmission cooler.)

There is 1/8” clearance between the electric fans wire cover sleeve, and the belt tensioner on the passenger side of the engine.

I just hope the fans move enough air to keep the engine cool. Don’t have too many more options.

I can post a picture of just how close everything is in a bit.

Here are some pictures of the 14" fans I bought from Evil Energy, and their specifications.

It was to hard to see the gap between the fan and the pulley system, so I placed a white sheet of paper underneath for better results.

I didn’t use any of the thermostat stuff. I went with a Derale 16759 adjustable fan controller with manual over ride.

Thanks for the info. I was looking at this it measures 3.5 thick and I have contacted them and was told that I could safely trim 3/8 off the shroud I have a alum radiator coming from Dewitt and will have a better idea how much after it arrives.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Today I finally fixed that broken button in the door handle. Happy I finally got that fixed! Also started applying boiled linseed oil to the body, much easier than clear spray paint. Then messed with the EVR because it keeps buzzing and making so much noise. I need to chase down that diode in the brown wire to make sure it’s good. But also, I have HEI distributor and need to make sure I wired it correctly. Pretty sure I did but that was 7 years ago. If I can’t figure that out I’ll have to upgrade my alternator. Why does something always break when you fix something else non related?

Got my old girl Detailed. Just like the wife going to the beauty shop. Back in the garage covered. Waiting for a sunny day with a purpose or the last show of the season.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Have close to 4 hours wire wheeling the inside of the truck box and tailgate. All the visible rust is gone. Tonight I’ll rust mort it. Depending on dry time, I might be able to apply the bed coating.
