WTB NL2 tank
Looking for an NL2 tank and mounting bolts, possibly even sending unit if in operable condition. It’s the tank that has the filler neck through the upper bedside, not in the middle of the bedside behind the metal door. I’m in Montana.

Re: WTB NL2 tank
Examples of the NL2 tank. NOT the same as the saddle tanks.
Thanks

Re: WTB NL2 tank
I just acquired one of these tanks at a Swap meet last weekend.
Reason for this is a story in itself. So, the tank I have is rusted beyond putting back in service. The pattern is there for the Dimensions to fabricate a New one. I acquired it to possible Machine the tank nuts on the bottom. Then I searched the forum a Guy from Washington State is making them cheaper than I can get the material for them. I still plan to make a set or 2. I have a Question. Are these Spacers in your Picture? (That I circle these in blue.) If so do you have the dimension for them? If you can share that, That would be Great. Thanks for sharing your Knowledge on these Tanks. This picture below is the nut I have for a Pattern. In the Blue circles, Are those Spacers?

They might have been before it was shipped to me. When I got it there was only one and it looked like a piece of clear rubber hose. They may have came off in the box, but me the moron did not look for the other 2 before hucking the box. Next time I lay hands on the tank I’ll take a closer look and get back to you.

Wait here they are, they’re in rough shape, but appear to be spacers. I’ll try to get them separate and get you some dimensions.

This will be a slow process for me. I have the measurements of the nut. The Carriage bolt appears to be 12" long? Then I seen your post in the search and these spacers Make sense. I have a bed floor to Mock it up too. The dimensions of the holes in the bed floor can add alot too this thread. That would help the next person.

Re: WTB NL2 tank
I can get the dimensions on the bed floor. There’s a junkyard bed that had this tank. Was going to try and cut that whole piece out to mock up
Yes carriage bolts are 12” Spacer is 2” long, OD is roughly 1”. ID is roughly 3/4” tough to get a good diameter due to the rust. And the rubber “insulator” pieces are tough to gauge but I’d guess 3/4” for diameter and 3” long Really makes me nuts how I can’t get these damn pictures to orient correctly

I am trying to help someone get their tank back in shape. About the pictures, What seems to work for me, Is to crop them where the top and bottom is smaller than the sides. Thanks again for the pictures and measurements.

Re: WTB NL2 tank
I've got a couple from a 72 I'd have to dig out and make sure it's the same as what you're after.

Re: WTB NL2 tank
I only have the tank. Tank appears in good shape inside. The one end of the tank outside had some scale buildup that I knocked off but it still appears to be ok. I will ship for costs but if it is like everything else lately it kills the deal. If you pm me your full shipping address I can get an accurate quote. here are a few more pics from a couple minutes ago. The one picture is my attempt to take one of inside the tank.

Re: WTB NL2 tank
Today was a good day, found a template for the holes in the bed. Aldo made some new spacers and bought some more rubber insulators, as I call them to go in between the spacer and the 12” carriage bolt. Just need to find some more retaining nuts.
Side note, these washers original? They all have what looks like a bird with an f in the middle, maybe falcon?

Re: WTB NL2 tank
Nice
I would say those are original, Maybe someone can chime in that has them. I was going to try to make some of these nuts that look Original. There will be a lot involved and probably deem Unaffordable. It can be done. Those washers can be easily made.

Re: WTB NL2 tank
Agreed on the washers, that’d be easy. The retaining nuts is another story.
I’m wondering the purpose of those spacers now. They don’t touch the bottom side of the bed floor like I thought they would. The bed supports won’t allow it.

Think it would hurt to make the spacers longer so that it didn’t rest on the bed cross supports? It’ll hang below the bed a bit more, but I’d think it won’t be too bad. I suppose that’s something I can play with when I get there.
