Nice truck box storage

Built a pretty nice truck. Driving it lots and taking it to shows. Problem once you built a nice truck (box nicely finished) there is very little in way of storage. Going a distance over night to shows its kinda nice to take luggage and some folding chairs and stuff. Not going to throw them in the finished box. Any ideas?

Re: Nice truck box storage

Do you have a bumper hitch?

Is a trailer with a cover an option for you?

Go to a carpet remnant store, get a piece cut in a colour you like, measured to fit the bed. Cut out the wheel wells. And don't forget: it's a truck ;-)

Re: Nice truck box storage

I have been thinking about this too. It's not just about the bed wood there's also the nice painted sides that stuff can slide into.
Here are my ideas so far ( haven't done anything yet)

1: Build a box with magnets on the bottom that would line up with the metal strips. Even thought about using these switchable magnets to install/ remove .

2: Add a hitch and use one of these racks. Then I could probably take a small cooler too.

This with casters on the bottom to roll it around once it is removed from the hitch is a Great Idea.

Somehow this gave me an idea. Modify the Harbor Freight rack to look & work like a Radio Flyer wagon.

Easy to move around when you get where you're going and it would look cool hanging on the back of a truck

Re: Nice truck box storage

I don't have a good suggestion but just wanted to chime in and compliment the truck. If anyone hasn't read through his build thread, I recommend it.

If you could fabricate a nice/slick tonneau cover that is able to be folded in three sections or lift a section on hinges/struts.

Yep. Look for one that's watertight as well.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.
