steering problem
my steering wheel has to much play in it, i can turn it about 10 to 5 degrees to the left before it actually turns the wheels, i really dont like that especially when driving on the highway it is like a toy sterring wheel kinda it just freely turns that 15 degrees. my plan is to add power steering next week so i am wondering if i should worry about it or if i should just leave it be until then. anyhoo how do i fix this problem just for future reference.

typical gm manual gearbox that has done it`s job over the years.unless your tie rod ends, etc. are wore out also, when you replace the gearbox with a p/s unit, most of your play will be gone.

There is an adjustment screw with a jamb nut on the gear box. When the gears wear, you can take some of the play out by tightening the adjustment screw.
