Intermittant wipers
I hope I don't get ripped for asking this question but I can't help it. Will it take more than a new switch to convert from standard to delay type wipers?
Go easy on the new guy. Thanks in advance.

You will need a delay module to time the delay.
They are mounted right under the steering column. I wouldn't recommend changing to delay wipers 'cause this little module is rather expensive ($65 and a GM parts counter) and it doesn't last very long. It seems the electronics inside cannot take the heat the thing generates when it is working. |

Okay. I wasn't sure if the original wiring would support a different module. Thanks for the info.

I just happened to put one in my 84 last weekend. Rebuilt the column and while apart, installed a (free) used intermittant switch and delay box from an 87. I actually used the plastic column cover to make it easier. Works great. I can't see how the delay box wouldn't last long. Mine is used, has a heatsink on it and works fine. I know the switch is expensive to replace. Like around $190 at Advance Auto.

yeah it sucks having 2 speed wipers, especially when its raining enough to impair vision, but soft enough that the wipers go sCRRRRRRRRR SCRRRRRRRR. The local dealership (God bless em) spec'd my Custum Deluxe with A/C, gauges, and some other goodies, but its got 2 speed wipers.

Cliffsta;
Try the RainX bug formula windshield washer fluid. It takes a while to build up, but once the winshield is coated, it does wonders for the condition you sited and it really works in keeping the bugs from sticking. Even with my really pitted windshield, the bugs come right off. Wal-Mart should still have it in stock, because I don't think you would need the winter formula in Louisianna. It runs about a $1.00 more than the blue stuff. Doug |

My 85 has intermittant wipers and it works great just has a module that plugs into series with the wire harness and of course the switch inside the colum is different.
