a friend of mine just told me that the door opening weatherstriping out of a 82-93 s10 truck will clip right into our 67/72 chevy trucks with no glue. has anybody heard of this or done this if so did it work?

Sounds like a good time saver not having to screw around with weatherstrip adhesive.

good news. i was just contemplating buying more adhesive to re-do my doors

for all the bs and hassle, i think i will fork out the extra dough and try the s10 seals next time

i used seals off a 88-90 something chevy truck, got them off ebay for 15 dollars new, fit great and actually had to trim them because they were to long. the only problem is the door on these trucks have a sharp corner where as the newer ones are rounded, i cut mine at an angle to make this corner.

I will get another pic of the mitered corner put up today. It must have been lost in the board change over, and I didn't save it either. They have been on my 71 for almost a year now, no problems. I highly recommend them. And once they are on you won't have to think about them again. If you need to paint the truck, you'll work at it but pull the seals off and push them back on. Our S10 seals come like the original seals, cut to fit, both measure about the same length.

Has anyone used the S-10 seals on a Suburban? I need to do mine, but am not sure about using these ones since the Burbs have a 90 degree corner at the back of the door. But they could certainly be an improvement over the glue-on type.

I just took a small section and bent it into a 90 degree corner. It kinda pinches and makes a buldge in the corner, where it slips over the lip. I don't think I would use them like that on a burb, I think they will leak at the 90.

Thanks 71Chev. Have you heard of anyone cutting the S-10 seals at 45 degrees at the corners (using some type of adhesive to bind the seal there)? I've been really disappointed with the stock seals, so I'd like to find an alternative.

No one I know has tried grebus1. It would be worth a shot, I thought about mentioning it. You might be able to make them work as is also, I don't know. You would need a flexible adhesive though. If you try be sure to let us know.

Thanks for the info. Back when I had my 84 S-10 I replaced my door seals with a set from JCWhitney. They were about $19 each and believe it or not fit well. You did have to shut the door a little harder due to being new. The next time I make it to the junkyard I will have to grab one off an S-10 and see how it does. I can probably get a good used set for under $5 for the yard I frequent.

71Chev, any chance of a pic of the corner from the other side of the door(the thick part of the seal)? Just trying to get an idea of how the seal behaves and looks when it is bent into the corner like that. Thanks in advance and for all the other info you have provided.

Hey, no problem, thanks for posting that pic. It doesn't look like it bunches up at all in the corner. Think I might try these on my Burb even though they have more of a 90 degree corner at the back of the door.
