2WD lift ?

I've been looking around, can't seem to find any lift kits for 2WD trucks (1970 C-10). Wanting to price out a 2" lift to maybe get some 33's under it. I like that look. Anyone know of any kits or dealers etc?

nope........ you could throw some 1 ton coils under the front and gain a inch or two, or use a coil spring spacer, and put on tire rod spacers.. but this may cause unwanted tire wear. The last i checked nobody makes a lift spindle for anything older than 88...
as far as the rear of your 70, that would be a hit and miss unless someone else has already done this due to the fact that the rear of yours is coils as well.
i dont know about a 70, but on 73-87s you can run a 31-32" tire stock with no to minimal rubbing. i run 32x11.50s on my 82 with only HD front coils added.

Rancho sells a taller spring for lifting the front up 1 1/2 inches. I had this on my 3/4 ton and ran 285/65R16 with no rubbing. The springs have a greater spring rate so a tall side wall helps with the cush. This is also the most your front geometery can handle for a good alignment with out tearing up tires. I still have the springs and when I lowerd my truck it dropped 10" when I changes the front springs, lower arms and tires.

Why not just put a bodylift on it?... It would be far more simple and won't affect the ride or alignment at all. Then you know exactly how much lift you are getting too.

I've always heard body lifts weren't as good as suspension lifts. I'm looking for so much more ground clearance, just a little room so i can get 33" tires under it. I'd like the look of the truck below.. but with 33" tires

griswold, probably 1.5-2".. like i have said before, on my 82, with just HD coils my truck sits level.. and i run 32" tires. the HD coils were on there when i got it, so i dont know how much it lifted the truck, i do know it has NO rake at all.

Body lifts are good for running bigger tires. but i dont like the look of all the gaps it creates and the added stress it put on the body mounts, i have seen them come through floors..also, if you use your truck to haul and you put a tall body lift on it, the load could bend the bed. heck mine already bows in the middle from previous user. I prefer suspension lifts, it creates more overall ground clearance and if properly done can create more travel..most of the lifts currently sold will lift the truck but will take away most of the down travel of the suspension. a suspension needs to have up and down travel to compesate for the variations in the road, dips and bumps and such..

no, i still use stock shocks. even with a 2.5" lift you would probably be ok on shocks as the lift kits limit down travel anyways... but to do it correctly new longer shocks wouldnt hurt.

yeh im thinking about doing the 1 ton shocks with coil spacers. then adding a shock rated for 3" of lift. i figure that should about even out.

All that was asked in the original post was for 2" to get 33s on a truck.
A bodylift will guarantee you a specific amount 2 or 3 inches.
A 2" lift kit (assuming that there even is one) cannot guarantee a certain amount in a control armed coilspring application. The amount of lift is limited by the distance between the upper arm and the upper bumpstop. If you do get some oversized coil crammed in there the ride is gone.....You will not have any "jounce" travel at all and the rebound will be very stiff. This WILL give you a crappy ride. You will also have alignment issues.

BodyLifts are not bad. (Sticking with 2-3) and if it comes through your floor....your floor was already junk. The blocks sit on the same mounts the body does from the factory (with the exception of the middle of the bed) The reason they might come through the floor is that the body has further to drop before it finds something to rest on. If the job is done right, and the bumpers are moved up too, all you have to do is fill the space between the bed and frame rails. If you do load the bed you could support it there too.
This really is the best way to lift a 4x2 and keep it a daily driver.

griswold510..........you are hi-jacking someone else's thread. You are responding to things that are for/about someone else. It makes things very hard to follow.

Post your own question.

It also helps to know how much you want to spend. I'm going to complete my truck the way I want it.I don't care about the money. I have a 72 GMC 2WD, and will be using parts from a 73-87, which will allow taller springs, new upper/lower control arms, ball joints. The thing you have to watch out for is you have to use some items from the 67-72 years and other items from the 73-87 years. PM me if you want the exact details...

i just finished putting a 3" body on my 76 2wd today. with a little front fender trimming i cleared 35s. I plan on putting 1 ton coils and 2 " blocks in the rear tomorrow. If you just want 2" try running 2" blocks in the rear with 1 ton coils in the front.
