Is a crossmember worth 50 bucks?
The guy I am buying the blazer from has an automatic crossmember...
The blazer has a three on the tree in it, and the first thing I am going to do is change it over to a 400 turbo.... just want to know if that crossmember is worth 50 bucks? thanks

Alot of people try and sell them for that, I got mine for free. Got any junkyards in your area, might want to check them out first. Don't forget to get the shifter linkages and the pivot point thingy that bolts to the frame

Is that a technical term? hehe, j/k I got an e-mail from a tranny shop, that said that swapping a th350 in for the three speed would be easier than than the th400....  ???One thing I have never done is tranny work...taking one out, or anything. That is the first thing I am going to have to do. So, I don't know much about what needs to be done...he has the linkage he is going to give me...but I don't know what you are talking about when you say the pivot point thingy...

Kinda hard to explain, it bolts to the frame and the shifter linkage pivots on it. If you are looking to get some better gas mileage out of the truck you might want to consider going with a 200-4r tranny instead. I had a 3 spd in my Jimmy and was going to go with a th350 but I am looking to put a 2004r in because I plan on using the truck as a daily driver. No matter what you go with you will also need to change the flywheel out for a flexplate, and you will need a rad with a tranny cooler.

Well, this is not going to be as easy of a project as I thought.
 I thought it would just be a bolt up procedure. take the three speed out, and put the th400 in...bolt up the linkage, and go...but I guess not... wish there was a guide somewere to show me wth I was doing... but I guess you never learn unless you do it...right?

Thats what I am doing, figuring it out as I go. I am sure there are alot more little things that are needed that I fully havent figured out, like the starter, wiring, carb linkages for a kickdown cable.

Is this a 4wd blazer? If my memory is right on the 4wd the 3pd and auto crossmembers were the same only the 4spd had a little deeper arch to it.

you don't have to change the radiator, you can just use an aftermarket trans cooler, probably be easier.

Goin more than that on ebay. My 3spd man was different than an auto. I think there is FAQ on this swap.

I scanned through the F.A.Q.s and all I found was an "Auto Tranny" Document that I can't open. I PMed the Moderator, and just awaiting a response, then I will go from there....thanks again though

You should be able to sell some of your manual shift parts on Ebay to offset some of your costs. I think I would go with one of GM's overdrive transmissions, instead of the th350. As mentioned, after market cooler and a floor shifter to keep it simple.

I was thinking about selling some of the manual tranny stuff here and on ebay.
I am still thinking the TH400 is the way I want to go. It is the tranny I have always wanted in the truck.... I also want to go with a column shift...since it is a 2wd, and never had a floor shifter I don't want to have a hole for a floor shift.... I am going to go one piece at a time.... tranny first then column then driveshaft... thanks for advice.. Lenny P.S. I am hoping that I can find a drive shaft on here, instead of giong and having one cut.
