Vacuum Secondary spring

I have a mild 350 with sportsman II heads (64cc) and a comp 270h cam, and a 3.73 gear. It has a holley 600 vacuum secondary carb on top of it. A while back I installed the white (lightest) spring.(it had the black one in it...heaviest) But like for ex if I pull it down into 1st and tach it up to around 35000 and hit it its like it has a pretty good hesitation until it really gets turning. It doesn't really do it off Idle to WOT just when I do it this way. Do you think the spring is too light. I don't remember how it reacted with the heavy spring in it. What do you guys think.

Also I remember a check valve of somesort in there somewhere. Where is it? and will it fall out when I take off the secondary diaphram housing?

Thanks
Jeremy
