oops shouldnt have cut this

I took the front springs out of my71 C10 454 combo wanting to lower them. I have drop spindles not installed yet and saw that the top of tire to fender edge was about 6 inches. So I thought cut 2 full coils out off from stock should be close. I was experimenting.

Oops lowered it to about 2 1/2 inches to top of tire and I dont have my drop spindles in yet and the front is real bouncy. And when I jack it up off the ground the springs come loose and fall out of place. So dont do what I did.

Just so I know next time. How much if any can a person cut off a stock spring to lower it without comprismising the spring and ride quality.

Thanks,
Rich
