350 Engine Position (Long ? sorry)

Hey Everyone I need some advice. I just installed a 350 and R4 700 in my 72 Chev pu 2wd stock 250 6cyl with three in the tree. I used stock V8 motor mounts in the holes drilled in the frame to match and it seems that the engine is too far forward. Unfortunately I do not have pictures but it is approx 4-5 inches from the firewall and so close to my new 4 core rad that I will have to put electric fans if I keep it in the present location. The drive shaft fits nicely but I don't want to throw the geometry off too much. Any mbrs with advice or past experience?
