Replacing dash questions

Anybody replace a dash before? I heard they are kinda tough to do when you have to remove all of the rivets up by the windshield. I was told by a friend that the easiest way is to cut through the slots under the dash pad and weld the new one in and bolt in the sides. Looking for some feedback from someone who has done this. Teeitup has a cab that I might buy but the dash is cut up pretty bad. I have a decent dash in my cab that I could cut out and weld in.
