Gas Filler necks

Hey guys, I removed my 69 filller neck on the Blazer the other day and realized (DOH!) that it is not the same as the 71-72 necks that had the emissions tower, mounting style and carbon cannister stuff...guess I really didn't think about it! what a bummer for me because I snatched a good 72 setup off of eBay a few months back anticipating that they were all the same....WRONG! my gas cap off my 72 truck doesn't even fit. Are these even different than the newer years at the gas tank or do I have a trashed gas filler assembly? It is beat up around the area where the gas cap screws in...definately not completely round and seems like hammer marks that have tried to be beat out. I noticed even the bedside mounting is completely different. You guys with the older 69-70 Blazers help me out here, should I try and get my 72 setup to mount correctly or try and find an older filler neck?
