Summer Ride 72 cstm dlx LWB NEWBIE INTRO
Hi all,
I have been visiting this forum for a few months now and everyone has been very nice and helpful. I own a 72 LWB fleetside with a 350 4 bolt main 3 on the tree. I have spent a great deal of time & $ getting it road worthy. Heres what I have done to it so far. Replaced: wheel cylinder, rear bendix and brake lines, carrier bearing, spark plugs & wires, air filter & oil (basic tune up), 4bl intake, rebuilt holley 750, radiator, headlight retainer ring, rear tailgate trunion, tail light & backup lenses, wheels & tires (still have stock rallys), valve covers, heater core, all new hoses, front chrm bumper Still to be done: Install rear chrm bumper, I Have new weather stripping for the vent windows and doors, alternator died the other day, and the master cyclinder for the brakes needs replaced. I have new sheet metal for the rocker panels, drip rail and rear fender skirting. I also need to align my fenders for I did not adjutst them when I quick bolted them on to get it home. As of now I have been driving around town working all the bugs out. After sitting for 4 yrs this truck has definately proven worthy in my book of a restore. Aside from the alternator and master cylinder going out in it, this truck rides smooth and runs like a raped ape! The PO rebuilt the engine but it leaks a little bit of oil from the back of the motor from sitting so long. i have yet to inspect it thoroghly but it is a possibility its the rear main seal. Other than that everything on the top end is brand new. I have around $1200 in this truck and most of that is cosmetic. Future plans include no decision on color/s I would like to drop the rear with springs to make the stance overall level. Air bags would be nice but I think for now this truck will be a summer ride until I feel its worthy of that kinda investment. One thing is for sure Im keeping this truck for a long long time! Put simply I love it! Last edited by xfsketch; 06-23-2006 at 01:40 PM. |
