BRAKE PROBLEMS!!! Please help..

Just bought a 72 SWB. Previous owner said front brakes needed bleeding. Have done this twice, but somewhere between master cylinder and brakes it is losing the pressure that gets the air out of the lines. I bypassed the lines and bled from master cyl., which worked, but there still was no pressure for brake actuation. Is the MC bad or can BOTH lines be bad??? PLEASE HELP

Thanks
