Cost to update '49 3100

We have a '49 3100 5-window that I want to put onto a new S-10 4WD chassis and drive train. I will not be doing do the work. (I am not a mechanic in any sense of the word.)

I have a gotten an estimate from local shop to do the work using Advanced Engineering's chassis conversion kit. This estimate is a range of $18k to $25K, depending on how much work is really involved and I want to add (air conditioning, etc.) This is for a turn-key job after I buy the S-10. This seems awfully high to me!! What do you all think?

Thanks for any input.
