running chevelle el camino coils?

someone mentioned that you could run rear coils out of a chevelle, monte carlo, or elcamino. so heres my question
is this in fact true?
how much drop does this provided?
and does anyone know off hand how tall the stock spring is? i know my truck has been droped in the front, but i think its stock in the back and id like to level it out
