My 49S10

I posted some info on my truck in the Welcome forum but thought maybe some on here might like a little more information and additional photos.

First of all, I like ALL old trucks, not just Chevy's.

I built my 49S10 while working ( and still am, although not enough) on a long term '56 F**D pickup that I'm installing Corvette C4 suspension and a Lightning supercharged engine. I saw it was going to be awhile before the F**D hit the street so I wanted something to drive NOW. After doing some research I felt the AD series Chevy pickup on a later model S10 chassis would be the way for me since I really wanted a daily driver type pickup, not a show queen. Of course being an old guy I also wanted the creature comforts of power steering, power brakes, decent ride, AC, and dependability plus some power.

I found a really solid 49 5W that had been in storage for 28 yrs. It was sitting on a Blazer 4x4 chassis 3 feet off the ground. Nice thing was they had not cut up any of the sheet metal. A buddy was in the middle of buying a 52 project sitting on an S10 chassis and he wanted to go with an original chassis and Mustang II IFS so I bought the S10 chassis. I wanted to get my pickup driveable asap so I opted to use the AD Engr. Kit rather than fab my own.
It worked out well except it sat too high for my taste so I added 2" dropped spindles, 3" lowering springs, and sway bars front and rear. I also rebuilt the front suspension and brakes. I left the exterior pretty much alone so it is not real pretty and certainly not a show queen.

The drive train is a late model low mileage 350V8, 700R4 tranny, and 4x4 rear end with 3.42:1 gears. A nice highway cruiser.

I've taken it from Kansas to Minnesota (Back to the 50's) and to Scottsdale, AZ (Goodguys) running 70-75 without any problems so I'm a happy guy.

Seems like when I'm at a cruise or show I get one or more inquiries if it for sale so I have '48, '49, and '52 that I plan to put at least two of them on S10's and sell. You can see some photos here-
