Started the 383 today! (pics)
After a year and a half, two moves and building a house, I finally got her to the point of starting the engine. All I can say is WOW! I have never had an engine rev so fast and easily. I could only run it for a few seconds because I have not installed the radiator yet. Needless to say I have a smile on my face that I am going to have a hard time removing for a while.
The plans for this truck is for it to be a sleeper. It's not pretty, and that adds to it. I fixed most of the rust so it will not take too much to make is pretty again when I am over the sleeper deal. I am going to have to do something about the sound though, right now it's a dead giveaway that there is something stout under the hood. Engine is a 383 with forged pistons, forged crank and rods, and pro comp aluminum heads. Running 9.6:1 Tranny is a 700r with a stock rear. The rear is another thing I am going to have to do some work on. Anyway, what do you guys think?
