I decided to make a thread on my truck project and update as I go. Let's begin. A few weeks ago I was wondering through the local junkyard, looking at all the old rot boxes (I live in NY). I was about to leave, then I spotted this old thing:

This truck was like no other here, becuase in a place full of rotted floorboards, trunk lids and frames, this truck was SOLID. The floors are solid, cab corners and outer rockers are recent, all around the windshiled is solid, like many other 60-66 weren't. Wow. This truck is buildable. I go talk to the guy that owns it, he said he'd sell it to me, a 17 year old kid looking for something to tinker on, for $300. Maybe being a punk kid helped me out there..... The deal was done, I hauled it out of there for $275, and payed $75 for a tow.

What it needs:
Everything. Exterior body stuff is a mess, the bed is gone, doors are shot, hood is rotted and grille support + inner fender are too. None of the lights work. There is no brake pressure, might be attriburted to the leaking wheel cylinders I stubled upon. The right rear wheel was locked, so I cut the lugs off, then I couldn't for the life of me pry the drum off, so I torched it. I'll need one of those.

Goals: I'm going to replace all of the rotted crap with decent used stuff, get lights and brakes functional, and then we'll see how close to a truck we are then. I'd like it to be an occasional driver, hopefully by next year. I'd like to keep the 230 I6, 3 on the tree for now because it runs suprisingly well, but if money allows, something along the lines of a 350/T5 are in its future. I might even do a disc brake swap.... My budget is low becuase I work part time, howver I have lots of time to wrench on it for the same reason.

As of now, I'm looking to get some body parts. I have a line on a 66 Chevy hood, straight with only some rust on the inside of the hood, what do you think that's worth? I also have a line on a 67-72 step side bed, with fenders and without a tailgate for $250.... Gonna have to check that one over. I just bought a set of wheels for the old girl, the rusty steel ones just aren't my taste:

I will update as I go, and keep track of what I have into this junker. Not much work will get done right now, it's about 10 degrees F out right now.
