Had an idea

When I bag my 68 I plan on using a c-notch. This should mean my pumpkin will hit the bed before my axle hits the notch, right?

How about cutting a hole in the bed for the pumpkin to fit through but use the piece of metal you cut out, weld on a hinge and put it back on the hole.

That way the bed looks solid when at ride height but when slammed the pumpkin can hit that patch and just lift it up.

Any thoughts on this??
