4x4 clutch replacement

The clutch in my 68 250 4 speed 4x4 is beginning to feel like its days are numbered. I've changed lots of clutches in two-wheel drive vehicles. but never in a 4x4. Does the transfer case (Rockwell 221) have to be removed? Both drive shafts? Any advice would be appreciated.
